Recognise the importance of alternative mode of assessment and to put it in place as part of national assessment.

National syllabus -SS as one subject.

Annual review of the syllabus and the alternative assessment mode with teachers and major stakeholders.

Performance assessments are better suited for assessing the standards, but also need to be standardised as well (Alaska Education).

Scoring guides should identify criteria that are understood through the use of concrete examples (Alaska Education).

Work with curriculum specialists and teachers to participate in state wide performance assessment (Alaska Education).

Accountability for how the public purse is being spent (Maclellan, 2004).
